Disneyland 2016-2017

I spent 3 days at Disneyland, and I am ready to share what happened.

Travel, travel, travel~

We flew to John Wayne Airport (SNA) and it was a 2.5 hours flight from Seattle.

Once we got there, we went to the shuttle area and found a shuttle service that would take us to the hotel where we were staying.

We stayed at Fairfield Inn by Marriott, and it was a really nice room.

That night, all we really did was walk down the main road and find a place to have dinner.

Friday December 30 2016

First day at Disneyland!

We woke up and had breakfast at Denny’s before heading into Disneyland. I think we got into the park at around 11.30-12pm so yeah, it was kind of late. But we managed to get a lot of things done (for the most part).

We started at Fantasyland and did most of the rides there except for Matterhorn (the line was ridiculous…why doesn’t Disney have a Fast Pass option available for such a popular ride?!).

We also went on It’s A Small World, Holiday Edition, and it was super cute. I now understand why people would get annoyed by it though. We left and then my boyfriend asked me if I wanted to do it again. Obviously the answer was no. But the ride definitely puts one in a good mood!

That day we also explored Tomorrowland.

We went on Star Tours which was a really amazing simulation that I recommend, even though I’m not a big fan of Star Wars.

Then we went on the Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters where I kicked my boyfriend’s butt at and it was my first time.

After that, we left at around 6pm and yes, we missed the 9.30p fireworks display. But we missed it because we wanted to make sure we could get into the park on the 31st so we had to wake up early that day.

But it was an extremely productive first day.

Saturday December 31st 2016

Last day of 2016 was spent at Disneyland, the happiest place on earth.

We woke up at 5.30am and went straight to the park, not even having had breakfast and it was hilarious because as soon as the park opened, people ran into the park while we were just taking our time, walking to Starbucks to get breakfast.

Even though I said we were productive on Friday, we were pretty productive that morning too.

We managed to go on Matterhorn, Splash Mountain, Finding Nemo’s Submarine Adventure, Hyperspace Mountain, Haunted House, Jingle Ride (usually called Jungle Ride), Indiana Jones Adventure, Pirates of Caribbean, and Tarzan’s Tree House (which technically isn’t a ride…) .

I think we liked a majority of the rides we went on.

I personally wasn’t the biggest fan of Pirates of Caribbean just because it was okay, and I am not a big fan of the storyline. It was also not planned out very well. They tried to make it a quick turn over but it just meant there were lots of moments where the boats would just bump into each other and stop in the middle.

I really recommend Indian Jones Adventure, but definitely get a Fast Pass, because the line doesn’t just stop on the outside. The line is almost the same length, if not longer on the inside. So be warned.

While Matterhorn was worth the wait, I almost recommend you to choose a day to get there early in the morning so you can skip the winding lines. Because I think it was so much more fun when the line doesn’t wrap around the entire ride…lol

After lunch, we went on a few of the aforementioned rides, but I was getting paranoid about the fireworks display, so at around 3.45pm I went to go find a seat in front of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle. So yes, I waited about 6 hours to see the first round of fireworks.

And it probably wouldn’t have been so bad if the weather wasn’t downright miserable. It was windy, cold, and rainy. I heard people speculate that it would get cancelled, but in the last 10 minutes before the display, the rain stopped and the sky cleared up.

The fireworks were gorgeous, and I loved it. I think it was worth the horrible weather, but not sure haha

Unfortunately we were so tired by 9.30 that there was no way we could’ve stayed for the 12am display, so we just headed back to our room.

We did still stay up until 12am, but in the comfort and warmth of our hotel bed and not in the miserably cold weather outside.

Even though we were physically at the park at the turn of a new year, I am going to think of it as we were there.

Sunday January 1st 2017

On the first day of 2017, we also spent it at the park and on this day we were really just finishing up things, and also redoing certain rides we enjoyed.

We did Hyperspace Mountain again, waited in line for the Big Thunder Railroad, had Dole’s Whip, the park Hot Dog and Ice-Cream Sundae. We also visited Toonstown because we didn’t get a chance to do that before. It was okay, definitely more for the little kids than our age range. But I got to meet Plute so that was worth it J

We left the park for dinner, and then came back and just made the end of the parade at 6.15p. It was a gorgeous display of not only Disney characters but also light displays.

It was the perfect way to end our time at Disneyland.

We flew home January 3rd 2016. (We had an off day on the 2nd, but it doesn’t require explanation, because it was a day just for me and my bf. Plus, if you really wanna know you can watch the vlog ;))

Our time at Disneyland was expensive, no doubt. But it was also laughter filled, and so much fun. We finished every day with sore feet and ready to sleep for an entire day after. But we got through it, experiencing the joy I knew we would have, and also getting to create new memories with each other.

Our next Disney adventure won’t come for another couple of years, but next time it’s gotta be Disneyworld.

Until next time.
